THE CHILDREN'S RAINFOREST
736.500 square meters saved to date
Children’s Rainforest is a Swedish non-profit environmental organization that was founded in 1987 by a group of school children. The children had realized what the rain forest means to our planet and were determined to do something to save it from extinction. Today, the Children's Rainforest works with organizations around the world which are well established both in the local population and the country's government. The organization has received the Goldman Environmental Prize for excellence in protecting the environment.
With the launch of the Amazonas table series in 2008, Offecct started up a long-term collaboration with the Children’s Rainforest by giving parts of the profits from the Amazonas tables to the organization. The Amazonas tables are certified by the Nordic Ecolabel and designed by Claesson Koivisto Rune. The table series originated when Claesson Koivisto Rune saw aerial photographs of a rain forest where the tree crowns created a dense ceiling. Claesson Koivisto Rune then designed a table that created the same effect, or, rather, he wanted to create several tables that could be combined to form a cluster resembling a rainforest.
